OUR LEGACY: Snow In April

Our Legacy’s evolution over the past decade has been a remarkable transition, one that has seen the Swedish brand successfully pivot from the contemporary minimalist menswear bracket into a wilder, more conceptual world. Under the guidance of Creative Director Christopher Nying, the label has cultivated a fevered following for their transgressive yet eminently wearable garments that contort items of the everyday into new and unusual forms – the perfect counterpoint to the logomania and exaggerated sensibilities that centre the current fashion zeitgeist.
The brand’s collection for SS24, “Snow In April”, looks to the binaries of the seasons for inspiration, transposing the tropes of winter clothing onto springtime garments cut from lighter fabrics and reimagined for weather that has predilection for the unpredictable. Focussing on this conundrum, Our Legacy’s outlook is rooted in tackling this capriciousness, culminating in an aesthetic where nothing is quite as it seems. Knitted sweatshirts brought to life with classic winter motifs are rendered in lightweight fabrics, while previously lightweight pants are cut from a hardier Italian Herringbone fabric for warmth, symbolising the dichotomy of the seasons that so often is felt in the springtime months.
Transforming the brand’s signature outlook with a touch of the whimsical, as Nying so often does, Our Legacy’s latest offering continues to build on their wonderfully playful sensibility. Perfectly channelling this attitude, but remaining rooted in delivering clothing that is relatable, pieces such as the Uniform Parade Derby shoe, the Extended Third Cut jean, the Borrowed shirt, and the brand’s cult silhouette, the Camion Boot, embody Our Legacy’s ethos – to reflect our current times through a union of their own fantastical and personal reference points.
