Top trends for spring/summer 2024

For those who passionately follow the trends and for those who incorporate only the most interesting elements into their wardrobes in line with their individual style, we present the key trends for the upcoming spring/summer season. Be the first to try them this year! Here are the designs that got the attention of the most influential fashion houses.

Micro shorts:
put your legs on display!

Although the trend for mini shorts was already discussed at the end of 2023, the spring/summer season will be the one to make those controversial designs shine. But you don't have to wait for the hot weather to test it out – take a cue from Kendall Jenner and simply layer them over warm tights. Get ahead the fashionistas and try the hottest trend of 2024 right now.

Micro shorts appeared in the collections of many brands. They started their adventure at the Milan fashion week, reigning supreme in the debut collection of Sabato De Sarno for Gucci and Peter Hawkings for Tom Ford before making their way to the fashion capital – Paris. They were celebrated there by Alexander McQueen, Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney and Chloé. Shorts were presented as nonchalant, showing off the legs of elegantly dressed models, but they were also a more casual, even sporty, outfit element.

Modern romanticism:
I am a woman

Lace, bows, organza, silk and romantic colours. The fashion industry is not giving up on the balletcore aesthetic, and it is testing its limits in this year’s spring/summer collections. This time, the unique combination of delicacy and romance is taken to a new level with designs meant not only for evening outings, but also... for everyday wear.

Blumarine, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain have all fallen in love with the vision of modern femininity from morning to evening. The first two brands showed the beauty of romance with openwork, lace, frills and transparent fabrics, the Italian fashion house focused on some aspects of femininity – sex appeal and coquettishness, while Olivier Rousteing presented elegant pleats and a charming rose motif. The trend was also adopted by Matthew Williams and even... Demna Gvasalia. The Givenchy show saw semi-transparent skirts and a whole host of pastel colours, while the red-hot Balenciaga catwalk had models marching in phenomenal gowns covered in floral patterns, lace designs and dresses decorated with bows.

Sporty chic:
the new face of elegance

A trend that not only looks attractive but also provides comfort? Sporty chic endeared some of the most respected brands at past fashion weeks, so if you care about an image that matches the current aesthetics, you won't find a better solution. See where to find inspiration for looks that combine sporty comfort with effortless elegance, and incorporate the vision of leading designers into your wardrobe right now.

The most appealing interpretations of this trend were presented by Italian brands Only the necessary, Y/Project and Dsquared2. They juxtaposed the rather formal attire with tops that were confusingly reminiscent of rugby jerseys. The catwalks, however, didn't lack sweatshirts which are characteristic of this aesthetic. Gucci paired them with statement leather skirts, Ferragamo paired them with capri trousers, which until recently were considered a fashion faux pas, and JW Anderson transformed the relaxed-fitting styles into the perfect everyday.... mini dresses. As you might expect, silhouettes in the spirit of sporty chic have also appeared at Wales Bonner. The designer who is known for this style, dazzled us with an unconventional combination of a blazer and casual shorts and a navy blue ensemble featuring a well-fitted sporty sweatshirt in the main role.

High-waisted designs:
high, higher, highest

This season, high-waisted styles, especially trousers, will make a significant comeback. This is because designers decided to have a little fun with proportions and instead of continuing the history of these classic constructions found in every wardrobe, they offered something extremely… fresh.

If you've been following the recent fashion shows at all, you won't probably be surprised to learn that when it comes to this trend, our hearts were especially stolen by Jonathan Anderson's models for Loewe. The Irishman showcased on the catwalk his 13 variations on the trousers’ theme, which ended not at the waist, but just below the bust. The same height appeared at Alaïa, Issey Miyake and Balmain, while a slightly lower but equally striking rendition was seen at Rick Owens. We wouldn't be ourselves if we didn't also mention Saint Laurent designs here. Last year’s much-talked-about presentation of Anthony Vaccarello referencing the founder's iconic Safari collection consisted of unique trousers featuring a high-rise waist, skirts and jumpsuits.
